AI for User Research
This course shows you how to integrate AI into your research practice in a responsible and effective way. You’ll learn how to save time and work efficiently, while keeping empathy and critical thinking at the centre of your work.
About the Course:
This course is delivered through three live online masterclasses focused on the practical use of AI in user research and insight work.
You’ll start by developing a grounded understanding of AI’s role in research — what it can realistically support, where its limitations lie, and how it is reshaping the responsibilities and decision-making of modern researchers. Particular attention is given to assessing and navigating the rapidly growing landscape of AI tools.
A central component of the course is prompting for research. You’ll learn how to design structured prompts using reliable frameworks and apply them to real research scenarios to generate clearer, more useful outputs.
The masterclasses then move into applied workflows, showing how AI can accelerate research planning by assisting with first-draft materials such as recruitment screeners, discussion guides, and surveys. You’ll also examine how AI can support research facilitation, including note-taking and session support, alongside a realistic discussion of AI-moderated interviews and synthetic participants.
Finally, the course explores AI-assisted analysis and synthesis. You’ll learn how to use AI to cluster themes, summarise findings, and work with survey data — while maintaining critical thinking, reducing bias, and preserving human judgment.
The course concludes with a practical framework for evaluating AI tools based on ethics, cost, and usability, helping you make informed, responsible adoption decisions.
